Eve of Destruction?

Baby boomers in particular remember the Barry McGuire tune “Eve of Destruction” which became a theme song of the 1960s and early ’70s. It referenced the anti-Vietnam war demonstrations, the hippie movement against faith-based morality, and the danger of nuclear weapons.

The world wasn’t destroyed two generations ago, but Western civilization arguably began its descent into moral and social disintegration.

Destructive forces have been unleashed this week at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago mirroring the mayhem of 1968. There’s upheaval in the streets and very seductive messaging inside the United Center.

Is the Democratic Party trying to bring back an eve of destruction?

I’ve stated many times  that my family–on both sides–were life-long Democrats. They loved the Democratic Party for such noble things as Thomas Jefferson’s writings on liberty, Andrew Jackson’s valor at the Battle of New Orleans, FDR’s steadiness in defeating the Nazis (including his public prayers), Truman’s courage in Killing the Rising Sun, and JFK’s optimism that put men on the moon.  

But starting in the 1960’s, the Democratic Party left my family–not the other around. They began turning away from God, morality, common sense, and even human civility. Today, most of my relatives are either Independents or Republicans.

Why?

Because the 21st century Democratic Party seems committed to destroying faith and freedom in the United States of America.

Various death-and-destruction policies have been in full display at the Democratic Convention. Their chosen-behind-closed-doors presidential candidate–Kamala Harris –is one of the lowest-rated VP’s in history with no accomplishments in the Senate, zero primary wins in 2016, little ability to articulate anything without a teleprompter, and could become the latest destroyer of the American dream.

How are Democrat policies hurting the USA? Here’s an honest fact check.

• They are destroying the American family by promoting easy divorce laws, sexual immorality of all types, gender confusion, and child mutilation–all anti-science and against biblical/reasonable moral principles.
• They are killing the economy through massive spending igniting inflation, onerous regulations on business (especially energy), and want to raise taxes on corporations who will pass them on to consumers. They want to tax  us (“the power to destroy”) into socialism (government control of business) or even communism (confiscation of all private property by force). Kamala Harris is left of Bernie Sanders on all these policies.,
• They are destroying American education through dumbed-downed schools that don’t teach history, reading, writing, or math very well but focus on DEI, white supremacy, and hating capitalism (championed by the teachers’ unions). 
• They are destroying our national sovereignty through an open border policy that is crippling state budgets, letting criminals and terrorists into our country, and changing the national fabric. VP Harris was tasked to find the “root causes” of the problem. No report was filed or solutions offered. 12 million illegal aliens entered America during the Biden-Harris administration (largest invasion in our history by far).
• They are destroying our American military through woke policies, an 85 billion dollar giveaway of equipment to the jihadist Taliban in Afghanistan, and now want to draft women into the armed forces.
• They are destroying women’s sports (achieved by Title IX) through letting biological males compete with women under the guise of gender choice. That’s anti-science and anti-female.
• The Democrats are destroying free speech and common sense justice in our nation through the Deep State, lawfare against a former president and other Americans, and censoring conservative or faith-based voices.
• Finally, the Democratic Party has become one of the greatest killers in world history through the brazen promotion of abortion. Ponder this amazing change in just thirty years. As recent as 1992, Democrat President Bill Clinton said that abortions should be “safe, legal, and rare.” At the DNC this week, nearly every speaker celebrated the killing of innocent babies in the womb right up to the moment of birth. Modern Democrats praise death to Israel (“From the River to the Sea”) and death to children. Kamala Harris is the primary cheerleader of “national abortion rights.”

This list could go on.  As Dennis Prager has stated: “The Left destroys everything it touches.”

Why has the Democratic Party become a destroyer–a killer of many American ideals?

Because the Democratic Party, in near totality, has turned away from God–the author of life and life-giving truths/principles that bring blessing to individuals and nations. When you reject God and his ways for living (which we respected for most of our history), then you begin to die through the effects of human selfishness and outright evil. 

You consciously or inadvertently follow the devil who Jesus said came to “seek and destroy (John 10:10).

When you’re anti-God you become devilishly anti-life.  

Brandon Morse, in the Daily Signal, shares his observations at the 2024 DNC in Chicago this week:

There was a lot of anti-life on display there. I don’t just mean abortion, either. There seemed to be a focus on what could easily be considered as a yearning for destruction. As I wrote, there are people protesting against Israel, with some saying there should be a “ceasefire” but simultaneously wearing the clothing and carrying the banners of terrorists who are bent on the complete annihilation of an entire race of people.

Then, of course, you have a parade of people dressed up as abortion pills. You have an entire IUD blow-up statue. You have mobile units providing pharmaceutical abortions or even vasectomies.

This isn’t just anti-life, it’s anti-humanity. They are declaring that they actually have such a distaste for humanity that they’re willing to celebrate the cessation of propagation or even the murder of the unborn. When you peel back the “human rights” or “reproductive healthcare” paint they cover this with, the DNC takes on a much more sinister aura.

And it’s from here that I can get a good look at the real theme behind the DNC this year. It’s a theme that I can’t help but wonder if they’re fully aware of. They are advocating for the death and destruction of all things that keep humanity in stability, prosperity, and continuance. 

And we, the distracted and uninformed American people, may give them victory in November.
