The Road to Hell…
You know the corollary: “is paved with good intentions.”
It is–but not always. This week saw another whopper of fake news when the New York Times published and later corrected an embarrassingly uncorroborated hit piece on Justice Brett Kavanaugh. That story was diabolical from the beginning.
It started with bad intentions.
But much evil is slyly perpetrated under the guise of compassion, the good of the people, the “arc of history” or simply good intentions.
We must understand this clever tactic on the road to hell–and avoid and expose it.
The Last History Book – and Other Summer Reading
This week the U.S. House Judiciary Committee re-visited the issue of reparations for slavery. Most of the discussion–minus one brilliant presentation by the youngest African-American to testify–showed an abysmal ignorance of history and what we should learn from it.
As the lazy, hazy days of summer come upon us, I recommend to you my ten favorite history books.
You especially must not miss The Last History Book–and other summer reading.
Walls Tell You Where You Are
The United States government remains partially shut-down over the issue of a wall (border security).
Rasmussen reports that most voters favor strongly controlled borders and reject House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s charge that it is immoral for the USA to build a border wall.
53% of “Likely U.S. Voters” think it is better for the United States to tightly control immigration. Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree and say it is better to open our borders to all as long as they are not terrorists or criminals. (How do you guarantee the latter? If borders are “open,” I doubt anybody would announce they’re a terrorist or murderer when they drive in.)
Where do you stand on “The Wall” (or steel fence)? To me it’s a no-brainer.
Walls tell you where you are.
