The World Makes No Sense Without Tri-focal Vision
The May 24, 1982 entry on my “Life Calendar” records that I spent a day in Washington, D.C. with a spiritual leader who confirmed that I had a prophetic gift. No, not that kind of prophet (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Elijah etc.). Just an individual with a calling to speak for God and an ability to “see” things that others miss.
Part of being prophetic (not pathetic) includes a spiritual warfare perspective—the ability to glimpse realities in the unseen realm. I submit to you that today’s world and all that is happening around us make no sense without tri-focal vision.
Here is what I mean.
Teach Us to Number Our Hours
In my early thirties I came to love the only psalm in Scripture written by Moses–Psalm 90.
The phrase in that chapter that stood out is verse twelve:
So, teach us to number our days that we may become wise (Psalm 90:12).
It means: Don’t waste time. Use your short stay on earth wisely. Be thoughtful, intentional.
Now, I am asking God to number my hours.
The New American Pravda and How to Navigate It
Pravda means “True” or “Truth” and was a newspaper published in the Soviet Union from 1918-91 as the official news organ of the communist state. It contained pure propaganda–telling the Russian people what their totalitarian bosses wanted them to hear.
I traveled into the USSR in the mid-1970’s. At the border they confiscated Bibles, tracts, even a copy of TIME magazine I carried in my backpack. I asked why? They said bluntly: “The materials are anti-Soviet.” In other words, they denied free speech and wanted a monopoly on public information.
We now see a New American “Pravda” flowing throughout the United States–the secular media and it’s woke/cancel culture.
Here’s how I’ve learned to navigate it.
