Christopher Columbus and the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election
We celebrated Columbus Day this week and many businesses and government offices were closed for the holiday. Honoring Christopher Columbus takes me back to a jingle we learned in grade school:
“In fourteen hundred and ninety two Columbus sailed the ocean blue.”
The name Christopher means “Light-bearer” and Columbus paved the way for the light of Jesus Christ to spread to the Western Hemisphere. Only one of our presidential candidates shares that sentiment–Donald Trump.
My thoughts on Christopher Columbus and the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
The Prophet Speaks–Again
Much is happening in our world as we pray for the Olympics, watch stock markets tumble, see Kamala Harris pick a radical VP, and intercede against a larger war between Iran and Israel.
My heart has always loved the Jewish prophets for their clarity on good and evil. That national wisdom seems to be carried on in some political commentators such as the late Charles Krauthammer and Dennis Prager.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, spoke truth to a joint session of Congress in Washington, D.C. on July 24, 2024. I have previously shared his prophetic perspective on world events.

Providence and President Trump
Twelve hours after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, I anxiously sat down for my morning devotions. Most days I check my “Life Calendar” to see what happened on this particular date in past years. (My “Life Calendar” can be found on pages 697-714 of One Small Life.)
On July 14, 1973, I recorded my belief in a vital truth:
“God is sovereign in history.”
America learned that same lesson–again–on July 13, 2024.
Here are my thoughts on God’s Providence and attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
