Why Putin Invaded Ukraine
I’m sure you continue to pray for the evil Russian invasion of Ukraine. Civilians have been killed, millions have fled the country, but most have remained to fight for their freedom.
Then there’s the “truth” problem. Russia feeds us worthless propaganda. Ukraine puts the best face on their brave resistance. And the world press–not holding to a fear of God and commitment to the ninth commandment–feeds us numerous falsehoods and ideology-driven narratives.
I will speak to the lies and character we need starting next week. Today, let’s answer why Putin invaded Ukraine.
What Will It Take to Awaken the Prodigal West?
One thing that separates the Bible from the Koran is the prevalence of stories that inspire us about life and truth. While the Koran contains the “recitations” of one man over a few weeks, the Bible was written by forty authors over two thousand years. That’s an amazing difference.
Because of its depth and breadth, God’s Word contains many stories, both historical and allegorical, that are memorable and life-changing–such as the parables of Jesus. One of my favorites is the Prodigal Son. It instructs us on the dangers we face in the Western World–and how to find the way home.
But what will it take to awaken the Prodigal West?
Yes, (State of) Virginia, There Is a God
“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” is a line from “Is There a Santa Claus?”–an editorial that appeared in an 1897 edition of the New York Sun. It ranks as the most reprinted newspaper editorial in the English language.
Virginia was a little girl who needed assurance of faith in Santa.
On November 9, 2016, I wrote an article called “Yes, Virginia, There’s a God in Heaven.” It chronicled the near “miracle” of a New York businessman Donald Trump defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Last week the State of Virginia proved people are wising up to tyranny in America and God is answering prayers.
Be encouraged.
Can God’s people help this political awakening go deep and wide?
