The Glorious Cause
I reacted with joy this past Sunday when learning the USA women’s soccer team won their second consecutive World Cup championship and fourth overall.
Love of nation is a good thing.
However, like many other Americans, I was disappointed over the conduct of one player who had said earlier she hated the USA and cursed the current occupant of the White House.
The final straw was watching our girls wrap themselves in the U.S. flag to celebrate their victory–then disrespectfully throw it to the ground to pose for a selfie.
What ever happened to loving and respecting the “Glorious Cause” of the United States of America?
The American Vision – Do You Share it?
For many years I was confused over the difference between a vision statement and a mission statement.
Eventually, I sorted it out and now teach courses on this subject at Faith International University.
Allow me to use our nation’s birthday–the 4th of July–to settle in your own mind the difference between vision and mission. We will do it through the eyes of the Declaration of Independence.
It’s our American Vision (Statement). Do you share it?
The Last History Book – and Other Summer Reading
This week the U.S. House Judiciary Committee re-visited the issue of reparations for slavery. Most of the discussion–minus one brilliant presentation by the youngest African-American to testify–showed an abysmal ignorance of history and what we should learn from it.
As the lazy, hazy days of summer come upon us, I recommend to you my ten favorite history books.
You especially must not miss The Last History Book–and other summer reading.
