Let’s Go on Offense and Defense To Protect the Kids

The horrific Parkland, Florida shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018 has once again unleashed a massive national debate about guns and safety. Young people lobbied in Tallahassee, police were blamed for timidity and cowardice, and new laws are being discussed.

I’m all in favor of dealing with evil and saving lives. I just want an honest and big picture debate that has little to do with political biases and much to do with solving the problem.

That means going on offense and defense to protect the kids.

My View of the World–2018

It’s interesting how many people divide life into sacred and secular–as if “reality”” can be parceled into two different sectors.

For example, many writers on politics and world affairs rarely mention God, His principles or His purposes. They talk about political parties, issues, national affairs, and  “worldly stuff” (secular)–as if God and His Kingdom don’t exist.

Others write about missions, prayer, world evangelism etc. and never seem to mention the things that are happening in the “world” that greatly affect these thrusts.

Here’s my perspective on the world–2018–from both a political and spiritual perspective. You can’t understand one without the other.

Seeing Through a Glass Darkly

Glass Darkly
 “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

I shared some thoughts with you last week on the Obama farewell and next week I’ll discuss the Trump phenomenon which begins on Friday, January 20.

But today, I’d like to leave the larger world for a moment to share some personal thoughts. Two weeks ago, I made a change in life that many of you can relate to, but I’d never before experienced. I would describe that life alteration as “seeing through a glass darkly.”
