When I Was in My Prime
For the past fifty-one years, I have read the book of Job every August as a part of my daily devotional habit.
Job is one of the unsung heroes of Scripture who wrote one of the oldest books in the Bible. Most scholars believe he lived near the time of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). His honesty is refreshing (you can argue with God!), and his repentance at the end of the story is powerful.
After calamity struck, Job reminisced about being in his “prime.”
I’ve come to believe that the prime of life may not be what you think.
God Uses Flawed People
Like many of you, my wife and I really enjoyed the Jesus Revolution movie which has taken the nation and world by storm the past few months. For us, it brought back many memories.
The same year Lonnie Frisbee showed up on Chuck Smith’s door (1968), God brought me to salvation as the move of God’s Spirit swept across the nation. I wasn’t a hippie, just a lost teenager who was seeking the truth.
My conversion experience during the real Jesus Revolution Days is detailed in chapter three of my upcoming book One Small Life: Revival Adventures from My Fifty Year Journal. It’s currently at the printer and will be out soon.
As I describe in detail in the book, God uses flawed people just like me.
Affirmative Action RIP
The U.S. Supreme Court recently struck down Affirmative Action in college admissions.
AA was as unfair and un-American as the recent atheist (woke) meltdown over country singer Jason Aldean’s #1 hit song “Try That In A Small Town.” Due to our biblical heritage, we Americans believe in freedom and equal opportunity for people.
In this article, I want to share Victor Davis Hanson’s wisdom on Affirmative Action while engaging in a little critical thinking.
May Affirmative Action rest in peace.
